Church (Rock) Cemetery Diary I
February 27, 2016

I've never undertaken a photographic project before, so I thought it may be of interest to create a written record of the experience.

Church Cemetery I

Until quite recently my photography had been oriented towards single photographs at different locations. I would research locations and decide when would be the best time to photograph, often returning repeatedly until the weather conditions meant I could make the photograph I had visualised. Recently though, a number of events have prompted me to reconsider my photography and I have decided to direct my efforts into project work. Although I say I decided to do project work, I've had this project in mind for some time before making that decision so perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that I have transitioned to project work rather than it being an abrupt change.

Church Cemetery II

I can't say what it was that first made me think of a photographic project at Church Cemetery, but I wonder if anyone who has done a photographic project can really answer that question? If the origin of the idea may be a mystery of the subconscious, the realisation of the idea certainly requires some conscious decision making, or at least it does for me.

More about decision making next time.
